Koraat Knives Straight Razors @ Rasurpur

These straight razors are made in very small batches in Austria. The blanks are exclusively designed and drop forged from best Silversteel (ca. 1.2% carbon) in Solingen. Hardening and tempering are done single handedly by the razor maker himself and not in huge batches as usual. The decorated back design is done exclusively for Rasurpur by hand and the upper and lower jimps are done by hand too. The polished scales are cut from excellent woods and everything it put together with turned brass and 925 silver pieces.

8/8 Straight Razor Décor Back - Wedge Grind

These large Wedges feel nice in your hand and shave (astonishingly) easy, smooth and gentle.
Even if you have lots of whiskers, the edge will cut them without any problem. In the olden days these straight razors were used by Barbers and were designed as work horses.

This version is much nicer and comes with a hand decorated and polished back and tang with beautiful desert ironwood and stunning birch burl scales. The blade itself is matté.
Weight is around 105-110 grams. The thumb notch is polished and the tang has upper and lower jimps for a secure grip.
A real beauty for lovers of large razors.

6/8 Straight Razor - Straight Point - Bog Oak - Wedge Grind

We kept these 6/8 a tad simpler to make them less expensive but they are as nicely done as the 8/8 too. They are forged from our Rasurpur kamisori ball bearing steel, hardened single handedly and tempered for above 60 HRC.

The contours are polished. The sides of the back as well as the tang still have their forging skin slightly polished for a nice contrast to the polished areas and the satin blade.
The lower side of the tang has been serrated by hand for a better grip.
To complete this slightly “rustic” razor we chose beautifull dark bog oak scales with a satin finish.

This 6/8 with its wedge grind is an ideal razor for beginners as well as the pro. It is not too heavy and not too light (approx. 75 grams) which makes the handling perfect and the shave gentle and close.

6/8 Straight Razor - Wedge Grind - French Head - Festonned Back

These 6/8 are made from the same steel as the simpler one with bog oak and are hardened single handedly and tempered for above 60 HRC.

The head, back, tang and tail are polished whereas the blade has a satin finish. The head is faceted (so called Schor or french head) the back has a hand filed Festonné pattern.
The lower and part of the upper side of the tang have been serrated by hand for a better grip.
For the scales we have chosen vivid desert ironwood and beautiful amboina burl. The latter has been stabilized by a thin layer of carbon fibre.

This 6/8 with its wedge grind is an ideal razor for beginners as well as the pro. It is not too heavy and not too light (approx. 80 grams) which makes the handling perfect and the shave gentle and close.
